Ballroom Dancing - Enrollment and
Registration Policy:
ENROLLMENT & PAYMENT POLICY
Preregistration is strongly encouraged as space is limited.
To preregister, contact Kit McGinnis at
danceballroom@comcast.net or call 540-219-9512. Full payment
is due at the start of each session.
There are no refunds once the session has begun.
If you know in advance that you will miss a class or two,
arrangements can be made to pre-pay on a pro-rated basis.
Checks should be made payable to “Kit McGinnis”, not
Ballet Academy of Warrenton.
DANCE PARTNER ROTATION
All of us in this beginning class are new to ballroom dancing
and as such everyone should expect to make mistakes as they are
dancing. We are here
to learn how to dance socially and to enjoy our dancing.
The best tool in learning to dance is partner rotation.
Rotation allows the gentlemen to learn how to execute the
leads for individual patterns properly.
For the ladies, rotation is integral in developing their
skill to `feel’ the lead and dance accordingly.
By rotating, we learn quickly what our strengths and our
weaknesses are. It has been my observation as a teacher, that
students who decline to rotate don’t progress as well and often
times just end up dropping out.
SHOE POLICY
Shoe Policy at the Ballet Academy of Warrenton states that NO
street shoes are allowed on the dance floors.
Students taking ballroom dance class may wear ballroom
shoes or jazz oxfords.
Those who wish to wear normal street shoes will need to
bring a pair of shoes that can be left in the studio for the 5
week session. The
soles will be cleaned with denatured alcohol before the first
class and from then on the shoes will be ready to enter the
dance floor. Please
note there are no exceptions to this policy.
Ladies dance best in a shoe with a closed back.
Heel height is a personal choice, however, flat sole
shoes such as the ballet slipper style are not the best choice
nor are rubber-soled shoes.
CLASS CANCELLATION
If the Studio is closed due to bad weather, repairs or other
unforeseen circumstances, classes will be rescheduled so no
losses occur. In
case of inclement weather, please call Ballroom Dancing With Kit
at 540-219-9512 as well as checking your email for notification.
