2011 SUMMER DANCE PROGRAMS - ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN

Enrollment for Summer Dance Programs at Ballet Academy on:
Tuesdays May 10, 24, and 31, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.   June 7, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Wednesdays, April 27, May 4, May 18, June 1, and June 8, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. 
Thursday, May 26, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.  Thursday, June 9, 5:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Friday, June 10, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 4, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. AND June 11, 8:45 - 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL SUMMER DANCE PROGRAMS
For all summer classes, payment is due upon enrollment to hold class placement. 
All class/workshop placement is at Director’s discretion.  Partial enrollments are accepted ONLY if indicated under FEE INFORMATION at the end of each class or workshop description. Classes missed for vacation or illness may be made up during this summer program. Cancellations after June 1 will be given tuition credit only; and will be considered ONLY if an unexpected, documented medical condition prevents the student from participation in a workshop. Workshops and classes not meeting minimum enrollment requirements are subject to cancellation and all deposits will be refunded.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT     For children 2 years old on or before July 1  
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 – AUGUST 17, 5:00 – 5:30 p.m.     ---   9 classes total
A 30 minute class with maximum enrollment of 8 children. The class uses imaginative, fun musical activities to build strength, flexibility, and body awareness; and improve gross motor skills, coordination, and posture. Special musical activities help develop a child's sense of rhythm and an awareness of the rich language of music. Includes floor work; basic, introductory tumbling and other mat work; and large movements across the floor. Children learn to share space, time, and attention with classmates. Curriculum based on Leap 'n Learn Syllabus. Parents invited to observe final class.
FEE FOR THE NINE WEEKS IS $77 – or --  $10 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.

INTRODUCTION TO DANCE     For children 3 years old on or before July 1
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 – AUGUST 17, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.   -- or --
THURSDAY, JUNE 23 – AUGUST 18, 11:00 – 11:45 a.m.     ---   9 classes total
A 45 minute class with maximum enrollment of 12 children. The class continues the fun and imaginative activities of Leap ‘n Learn Curriculum described above in Creative Movement; and goes on to introduce pre-ballet, pre-tap, and basic tumbling and acrobatic skills. Parents are invited to observe the final class.
FEE FOR THE NINE WEEKS IS $116  – or -  $15 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.

DANCE SAMPLER     For children ages 5 – 8.  Must be 5 by September 1
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 – AUGUST 17, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.   ---   9 classes total
 An opportunity for your child to sample ballet, acrobatics, and tap dance in age appropriate formats and curriculum.
All Dance Samplers are beginner level -- no previous dance training is required.
FEE FOR THE NINE WEEKS IS $116  – or -  $15 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.

INTRODUCTION TO BALLET    For children ages 5 – 7.   Must be 5 by July 1
THURSDAY, JUNE 23 – AUGUST 18,  10:00 – 11:00 a.m.  --- 9 classes total  
Beginner level - no previous ballet training is required.  Students will study the foundations of Vaganova ballet technique in a fun and age appropriate format that includes a ballet workbook and learning about The Little Mermaid Ballet.
FEE FOR THE NINE WEEKS IS $116  – or -  $15 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.

BALLET PRINCESS!     For children ages 5 – 8.   Must be 5 by July 1
THURSDAY, JUNE 23  – JULY 14,  2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  --- 4 classes total 
Beginner level - no previous ballet training required.  Students will feel the magic of ballet as they are transformed into Cinderella, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty Ballet, and Odette from Swan Lake Ballet.  Concludes with a performance by the Ballet Princesses on Thursday, July 14, at 3:00 p.m.
FEE FOR THE FOUR CLASSES IS $103.

DANCING THROUGH THE ZOO     For children ages 5 – 8.   Must be 5 by July 1
THURSDAY, JULY 28 – AUGUST 18, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  --- 4 classes total
No previous dance training is required.  Students will be transformed into ballerina fish, tapping penguins, and acrobatic monkeys  Concludes with a performance Thursday, August 18, at 3:00 p.m.
FEE FOR THE WORKSHOP IS $103.   

ACROBATICS WORKSHOP --  For children ages 6 and up.   Must be 6 by July 1
JULY 11 - 22, MONDAY – FRIDAY, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.  Beginner level students will develop basic tumbling and acrobatic skills. Intermediate and advanced level students will develop partner circus skills and work with props and acrobatic equipment. Final class is a demonstration class for parents on Friday, July 22. 
FEE FOR THE TWO-WEEK WORKSHOP IS $185 or $103 for ONE WEEK.
 

BALLET INTENSIVES 

BEGINNER I BALLET INTENSIVE  --  DAILY CLASS, MONDAY – FRIDAY, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  
4 WEEKS, JUNE 27 – JULY 22.    For children eight years old on or before July 1.   A four week ballet technique course based upon the Vaganova Syllabus. Included are musicality, dance history, nutrition for dancers, and injury prevention.
FEE FOR THE FOUR-WEEK WORKSHOP IS $330 or $90 per week.  A 50% deposit is due upon enrollment to hold workshop placement, with the balance due by June 13.

BEGINNER II / III BALLET INTENSIVE  --  DAILY CLASS, MONDAY – FRIDAY, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. 
4 WEEKS, JUNE 27 – JULY 22.     For dancers who have completed Beginner I Ballet.   A four week ballet technique course based upon the Vaganova Syllabus. Included are musicality, dance history, nutrition for dancers, and injury prevention.
FEE FOR THE FOUR-WEEK WORKSHOP IS $330 or $90 per week.  A 50% deposit is due upon enrollment to hold workshop placement, with the balance due by June 13.

INTERMEDIATE I BALLET INTENSIVE  --  DAILY CLASS, MONDAY – FRIDAY, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.  
4 WEEKS, JUNE 27 – JULY 22.  For dancers who have completed Beginner III Ballet.  A ballet technique class continuing with the Vaganova Syllabus. Included are musicality, dance history, nutrition for dancers, and injury prevention.
FEE FOR THE FOUR-WEEK WORKSHOP IS $330 or $90 per week.  A 50% deposit is due upon enrollment to hold workshop placement, with the balance due by June 13.

INTERMEDIATE II / III / IV / ADVANCED BALLET – TUES & THU, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. JUNE 21 – AUG 18
NINE WEEKS / 18 classes -- FEE FOR THE 9 WEEKS IS $410; $210 FOR 4 WEEKS, OR $25 PER CLASS.   

HIP HOP, JAZZ, FLAMENCO, TAP

HIP HOP KIDS –  WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22  through JULY 27, NO CLASS ON JULY 6 
For ages 8 – 11 -- Must be 8 by June 1 -- 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
For ages 12 – 15 -- Must be 12 by June 1 -- 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
This is a beginner level, introductory course covering the fundamentals of hip-hop; and includes warm-up, combinations, and across the floor work. All music and movement will be age appropriate.
FEE FOR THE 5 WEEKS IS $65 – or -  $15 per class if not enrolling for the full 5 weeks.

INTERMEDIATE TEEN / ADULT JAZZ – WEDNESDAY, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. JUNE 22 - AUGUST 17  Ages 14+. This is an intermediate level class. This one-hour class emphasizes lyrical, Broadway-style jazz, using the world-renowned Luigi Syllabus as its foundation.  Class structure is similar to a ballet class, beginning with a warm-up to increase flexibility, strength, and coordination; and emphasize proper body alignment. Center work combinations, jazz turns, and large movement locomotor combinations across the floor complete the class.
FEE FOR THE 9 CLASSES IS $116 - OR $15 PER CLASS. 

FLAMENCO  with Dina Fadeyeva!! - TUESDAY, 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. JUNE 21 – AUGUST 16
Ages 16+. This is a Beginner Level class open to all dancers age 16+. Includes castanet work.
FEE FOR THE 9 WEEKS IS $205 – or - $25 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.

TEEN / ADULT ADVANCED TAP – THURSDAY, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., JUNE 23 – AUGUST 18  Continuing study of Al Gilbert Grade 6 tap technique, combinations across the floor, tap turns combinations, advanced level time steps, and basic rhythm tap work.
FEE FOR THE NINE WEEKS IS $116 - or -  $15 per class if not enrolling for the full 9 weeks.
